Seedings Announced for Beach Volleyball America Kyocera U.S. Championships

SEEDINGS ANNOUNCED FOR BEACH VOLLEYBALL AMERICA KYOCERA U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MARINER'S POINT IN SAN DIEGO TOURNAMENT SET FOR AUGUST 26-27, 2000 PLAY BEGINS 9:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY EVENT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 22, 2000) - Beach Volleyball America (BVA) announced today the seedings for the final event of the 2000 BVA Tour season. The Kyocera U.S. Championships will be held Saturday August 26th and Sunday August 27th, 2000 at Mariner's Point in San Diego. Play is scheduled to start both days at 9:00 A.M., with the final scheduled for approximately 2:30 P.M. on Sunday. The event is free to the public.

Players will be competing for $75,000 at the event, with the winners splitting $15,000 and taking home the honor of U.S. Champion.

The event will include such top BVA players as Annett Davis, Jenny Johnson Jordan, and Holly McPeak, who will all be representing the USA at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia this September.

Other teams participating at the Kyocera U.S. Championships include Nancy Reno/Elaine Youngs, who won last weekend's BVA Long Beach Open, and Lisa Arce/Barbra Fontana, who have won two BVA tournaments this season, the Pismo Beach Open and the Oceanside Open.

The two day event is a 24-team double-elimination Olympic Cross-over format.

This tournament concludes the 2000 inaugural season for the BVA tour which consisted of seven tournaments and a total purse of over $500,000 in prize money. The schedule for the 2001 season is now being prepared.
