Career Highlights
  • May became the winningest first-season player in USA domestic history in 2000, as she teamed with tour veteran Holly McPeak to win five tournaments -- the BVA Seal Beach Open, the Oldsmobile Beach Volleyball Olympic Challenge Series event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, the FIVB/Oldsmobile Grand Slam in Chicago, and the FIVB events in Berlin, Germany and Fortaleza, Brazil.
  • In her first season, she earned over $132,000 in prize money.
  • She was named the BVA's Rookie of the Year.
  • She and McPeak also made the 2000 USA Olympic Team and finished fifth at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
  • The 2000 season was May's second year as a pro, but her first as a full-time player. In 1999, she played in three events.
  • She and McPeak won their first title at the Oldsmobile Beach Volleyball Olympic Challenge Series event in Deerfield Beach, Florida in April 2000.
  • She and McPeak won their first international title together at the 2000 FIVB/Oldsmobile Grand Slam in Chicago, which was held over the 4th of July weekend.
  • May was on the indoor USA National Team for six months in 1998 and 1999. She was part of the team that won the bronze medal at the 1999 Pan American Games.

  • May was a four-year starter at Long Beach State University.
  • Helped lead the team to the 1998 NCAA Championship with an undefeated season, the first women's collegiate volleyball team to accomplish that.

  • Won the Honda Broderick Cup for the 1998 season as the nation's premier collegiate athlete.

  • Her father, Butch, was on the 1968 men's Olympic volleyball team and her mother was a nationally ranked tennis player.
